Centre de musique baroque - The right temperament of joy and fear

Cultural Entertainment/recreation

Four themes devised by Fabien Armengaud, in the image of the four deputy masters of the Chapelle Royale, will punctuate this season of Musical Thursdays at the Chapelle Royale in Versailles.

A voix égales, the first theme of the season, will take us from the music of convents to that of the royal house of Saint-Cyr, not forgetting the Italianate circles of the early eighteenth century, and will highlight Collasse, Lorenzani, Lemaire as well as Dumont and Danielis. A panorama of the Mass in 17th and 18th century France will introduce visitors to François Cosset, Louis Grénon and Pierre Bouteiller, as well as revisiting Charpentier's famous Messe de minuit. The more literary theme, devoted to the Psalms of David, will provide an opportunity to discover how they were set to music by Schütz, nicknamed "the Orpheus of Dresden" in his day, and Charpentier. Finally, Les goûts réunis, a title borrowed from François Couperin, will bring together French and Italian music.

Sébastien Daucé, the new conductor in residence at the CMBV choir school, will conduct two exceptional musical Thursdays devoted to sacred stories by Clérambault and Charpentier, as well as previously unpublished pieces from the Deslauriers manuscript.
