3rd Georges Bizet Festival – Spain at the Piano by Edoardo Torbianelli (1898 Érard Piano)
From the ramparts of Seville to the salons of Pauline Viardot in Bougival, the 3rd Georges Bizet Festival celebrates the 150th anniversary of the creation of Carmen as part of the European Heritage Days.
Pianist Edoardo Torbianelli invites you to a concert exploring the meeting of proud Spanish pianists who brought their musical traditions to Paris, and French composers fascinated by a poetic and picturesque vision of Spain.
Pianist Edoardo Torbianelli, a specialist in historical pianos and in Chopin, and a professor at the “mecca” of early music, the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, offers a highly original concert exploring the meeting of Spanish pianists proud of their musical heritage who came to Paris (Masarnau, Ocón, Albéniz) and French composers enamoured with a poetic and dreamlike vision of picturesque Spain: Chopin, Alkan, and Herz.
The concert will be held indoors, in the salons of the Villa Viardot.
