Opéra Royal - SANDRINE PIAU HAENDEL- AIRS D'OPERA ET CONCERTI GROSSI
William Christie reunites with French soprano Sandrine Piau for a programme of Handel's works, featuring a musical anthology combining bravura arias and concerti grossi. One of the highlights of Les Arts Florissants' season!
William Christie and Sandrine Piau have enjoyed a long artistic partnership, and both share a deep affinity for the music of George Frideric Handel, of which they are two of the greatest interpreters. To showcase the versatility of the soprano voice, this new concert programme brings together some of Handel's greatest arias, pairing them with instrumental pieces composed in the same Italian style: the Concerti grossi. These concertos, clearly inspired by those of the Italian violinist and composer Arcangelo Corelli, will be conducted for the occasion by Emmanuel Resche-Caserta, first violin and musical assistant to William Christie.
