THE BIEVRE IN THE OPEN AIR

RE-STREAMING OF THE RIVER AT JOUY-EN-JOSAS

Currently, the Bièvre flows underground at the level of rue Jean Jaurès, from the traffic circle to the train station.

In a spirit of ecological recovery of the river, the SIAVB has launched a project to reopen the Bièvre in the city center.

Thus, work will take place on the land next to our tourist office, for a period of 3 to 5 months, starting February 8, 2021.

ATTENTION: the parking of the station will be partially accessible during this period.

From this summer on, you will be able to enjoy nature in the city, the river, the plants and the biodiversity that makes this beautiful environment live. Our tourist office will become “the house of the valley”.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS OPEN-CUTTING

  • Restore the ecological and landscape continuity of the river
  • Improve biodiversity by recreating a complete ecosystem
  • To return the Bièvre to its residents and to offer to the inhabitants and tourists a natural space of quality
  • To bring an island of freshness in the heart of the city

From 11 to 15/01, Jouy welcomed these artists in residence in order to make them discover the city & its history, by meeting the local associations, the museums and the elected officials. The first stage of their creative work also allowed them to locate the living and dead branches of the Bièvre, as well as its related rustic.

“Guided by the president of the Historical Research Group of Jouy and the president of the tourist office, the members of the company were able to discover the emblematic places of the city. Accompanied by a lecturer, they also visited the Toile de Jouy museum, an important heritage element of the town and beyond. Rich of all these discoveries, the company is working on the creation of a customized artistic tour. “Ricochets on the cobblestones

The next residences of the collective in Jouy-en-Josas :
