THE “CITIES AND VILLAGES WHERE IT IS GOOD TO LIVE” RANKING

 

Launched in 2020, this ranking establishes the classification of 34,837 French municipalities (excluding DOM/TOM). The eponymous association worked closely with INSEE and other government agencies to provide data that reflects reality as closely as possible.

The communes were evaluated according to the priority axes that define a village / town where it is good to live:

  • quality of life (76%)
  • Safety (71%)
  • shops and services (45%)
  • Transportation (43%)
  • Health (42%)
  • Education (33%)
  • Solidarity (27%)
  • Sports and leisure (26%).

According to an OpinionWay survey, conducted for the Printemps de l’Optimisme (2020).

 

It shows a classification on 8 categories (national level, departmental level, levels by strata – scale of the number of inhabitants).

Among the 34,837 French communes, 7 communes in our territory are among the 500 best towns and villages in France to live in: Versailles, Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt, Viroflay, Vélizy-Villacoublay, La Celle-Saint-Cloud, Fontenay-le-Fleury and Bois d’Arcy!

 

What you should also remember about the 18 communes of Versailles Grand Parc:

 

12 communes are in the TOP 50, at the departmental level, all strata included
10 communes are in the TOP 100, at the national level, sorted according to their respective strata (number of inhabitants)
14 communes are in the TOP 10, at the departmental level, sorted according to their respective strata.

→ What we can conclude (among other things):

Rennemoulin has the best progression in the ranking at the national level, all strata combined, with a rise of + 261 places, compared to 2020
Fontenay-le-Fleury has moved up from 8th place among the cities of Versailles Grand Parc to 6th place
the city of Bièvres remains the best compromise between city size and joie de vivre.
